Fever-Tree - Final Bottles
My final Design was a combination of the processes used through research and development, combining things such as methods of colour and elegance through living things such as animals I was able to create something that would look visually pleasing. Adhering to set instructions which included keeping the basis of the logo/front of the bottle similar to the original was something I think I achieved.
Each bottle has its own unique feel while as a group they feel unified, they work well within a packaged design and if intended as shown previously will work extremely well with other colours, which are intended for different flavours of Fever-Tree drinks.
I feel as though the limited edition bottle is a classy touch to an already well sought after premium drink, and by using subtle colours and images the design does not overpower the real meaning, which is to raise money for malaria UK. The packaging is intended for adults aged between 35-65 and by analysing products in there target market products are not bombarded with sloagans and taglines that try to force you to do things. Subtletys within design and that age group are essential as people will tend to go for things with better value or a product/brand that they already know.

Colour Development - YCN
Below shows the development in which I experimented with the use of different coloured labels, each label was a different flavour so as the already on the self bottle, it could possibly roll out to more than one flavour. I tried the colours that currently reside on the original bottles and edited them accordingly so that everything was consistent. Names and ingredients would be changed to match the original. The colours of the final bottle will be a light gold which is identical to the Lemon Tonic water flavour which was the advised flavour and also the bottle which was given to us within the starter pack.

Bottle development - YCN
Following my initial sketches and research I began narrowing down my ideas so that they consisted of wildlife instead of free flowing shapes and movement. Reasons behind this is so that I could base each bottle on something that would be more than just a throw away element.
The basis of my designs is to show elegance through animals that are either, Endangered or special in some form. Some of these animals included that were not portrayed in my work consisted of Wildlife from various countries within the regions provided.
“Look premium, beautiful and visually engaging”. This statement became something that I tried to uphold throughout.
My designs were refined down to 4 single Animals that are either represented in there country as special or unique. these were then accompanied by Text of the chosen country they are situated in and combined with a minimal yet effective slogan ‘Limited Edition’. These images were hand drawn from primary sourced references and then scanned and edited through photoshop, adding highlights to whiter areas and darkening out areas that should be black I was able to create something that would look like a flat image and worked effectivley on my edited bottle.
I debated between the uses of colour and the combination of Yellows and Golds to create a look and feel that as stated previous would be more elegant. but I decided against is and went for Glossy Black.
Animal Research - YCN
http://www.asienreisender.de/animals.html
When researching the indigenous animals of each region within South-East Asia i used the website link above, they gave references as to which animals came from where the reasoning as to why certain creatures were idolised or more important than others and also whether they symbolise something different for each country. The vast nature of South-East Asia allowed me to have an array of different wildlife to choose from, ranging from fish to mammals and reptiles.
Chosen Wildlife:
Tiger
Elephant
Koi Fish
Crocodile
These animals were then associated with there relevant countries, when creating the labels I had to take into account the font size and how it would look with certain animals, because certain animals were indigenous to more than on region this allowed me to pick and choose.

Dr Lakra - Latin Art
Converse Presents Dr. Lakra from Highsnobiety on Vimeo.
While looking for inspiration when creating my Fever-Tree bottle I came across the works of latin artist Dr Lakra. His first major US exhibition was at the ICA in Boston. An artist and tattoo artist Lakra transforms found printed materials and objects with mischievous, tattoo-inspired drawings. Some of his work can be seen within the Saatchi gallery.
The main reason why I found his work to be of such inspiration is the collaboration he did with Absolute Vodka, this was essentially the point where my idea transitioned into using animals as the focal point within the final design. His work with Absolute can be seen below in one of there numerous special edition bottles.

Working Ideas - Fever Tree
Using influence from chosen works I decided to hand draw some mock up design patterns that would then end up on the bottles. The outlines were traced over in illustrator to make it easier for me to see how the patterns would progress. Each pattern is just a simple representation of how my design will communicate when finished. Images below show the uses of some of the things listed within my earlier post regarding 'Things to Think About'.
I will apply these images and there styles to Photoshop/Illustrator to begin working on the ways in which the patterns flow combines with colour and the branding.
Idea Generation - Fever Tree

Initial ideas came from unique limited edition bottles by the german Brewer 'Warsteiner'. There range of 6 bottles each with an outgoing outlandish design that makes them standout. The use of colour which highlights the accents of the gold logo works extremely well together. The bottles already use the necessary style and technique to accent the Malaria campaign.
I need to begin by drawing up and sketching ideas onto a bottle design, this will then be whittled down and refined to create something unique.
Taking ideas based on keeping the logo centred and simple and elaborating around the brand, this will correspond with the use of continents supplied through the 'Malaria No More' campaign. elegance is key so creating something eye-catching and colourful has to be done carefully.
Things to Think About - Fever Tree
Notes: The breakdown of the image above is basically a page of notes where I wrote down the most important things that needed to followed and adhered to. The main word I kept referring back to was elegance and simplicity. This was something I would be trying to uphold throughout.
Things to follow:
“Create beautifully designed limited edition bottles to engage customers and raise money for Malaria No More UK”
We were asked to create or design a set of 4 limited edition bottles that would raise awareness for Malaria no more UK, each bottle would consist of an intertwined yet slightly different design containg a selection of 4 countires within regions most affected by Malaria. They were narrowed down into 5 regions which included areas such as Africa and Southern Asia.
Our designs had to adhere to the standards and limits set by Fever-Tree which included guidlines stating our work should work to a wrap design that adheres to the current footprint of the 500ml Tonic bottle that was provided. Examples of the bottle within the packs provided also stated that the brand name and Malaria guidlines and information had to be clearly visible so that the bottle still upheld its clarity and didnt look completley different.
“Whilst each bottle should have its own look and feel, they also need to look they are from one collection - and part of the same family”
We were told that the design must be ‘Beautiful and Sophisticated’ within style and not child like in any way. This is one thing I tried specifically to uphold was to Establish the drinks target market. on further instruction we were advised the age we were attempting to entise was between 35-65.
