I have been broadening my range of creative practices by trying to look into different aspects of design, While initially getting the inspiration from artists such as Leland Foster who I wrote about in previous posts I have also delved into various other ways of uncovering artists and techniques.
The work I have created in doing so has become more of a trial run but will be used within one of my projects.
The image was initially drawn up by hand during my experimentation with character creation and will most likely be used as the character in my 'Cereal Box', but it has allowed me to grasp an idea of how digital painting is done and will also help me with my current brief. The idea within the final brief is to portray stereotypes which is spoken about within previous posts. To combine all of the aspects of what has been learned from the past 3-4 lessons I began by piecing together the separate artworks that would be combined to create my final design. The initial drawing/drawings would be digitalised by putting them into photoshop or illustrator. The design I created needed to be coloured in a way that would stand out on the front of the box, in doing so I began watching tutorials on how to digitally paint after numerous attempts testing different techniques I decided to test it out by using the base colours which I would have been sticking to within the overall design.

This is something I enjoyed the process of as I found it rather simple to follow a video tutorial the end product will be used on my final design. By using the example given in our studio practice lesson it would allow me to layout my design accordingly, helping me to establish a viable layout that worked and would look professional.
The artist below is the reference that I used on Youtube, while not necessarily using this as a direct reference it helped me to grasp and understand ideas such as the use of light and dark tones within digital painting. I found it rather simple to understand the concept of how to paint of photoshop for many reasons, I begun by following a short and simple step by step guide on youtube on reasons why you should outline your image digitally then overlay with colour on another layer.
The final section to add to the below image would be to highlight and shadows to add texture and depth. Although not executed to perfection or having the artwork finally finished I believe I have a slightly better understanding of how the process works.
