Boiling and 'The Hand' Effect - After Effects

In this After effects workshop we were shown how to use the boiling technique, by combining a set of slightly altered images in after effects you can create a subtle moving Video. The first video is a music video which was shown to us within the lesson to grasp how the effect would work when done to a professional standard.

My final composition was done by layering over a selection of five to ten images that were borderline identical, to be more precise we were told two things, that when creating these compositions if you use an odd number of images then the final design will look like a moving image, when an even number of images were used the final composition would look like a flicker.

These were then inputted to After Effects where they were layered and composited so that we could make a ten second illustration showing movement.
